Exactly right about needing long-term data, but when was the last time a network executive had the patience to wait for something like that? Assume Netflix gets a new season of a program exactly 12 months after it first airs on broadcast/cable. That's one full year for the FIRST data point, another year for a second

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't there usually a significant delay between a program going to air/cable, and its release on Netflix, like a full year or more? We're not talking Hulu Plus where you just have to wait a day for a show like Scandal or The Blacklist and the viewing info could actually hurt the programs'
