My point is there ARE no paying gigs going in a country with around 14.5% unemployment. So it's either this or the perceived shame of unemployment. Oh you do get 50euro a week. So that's something.

Delicately put.
Is anyone aware of whether employment laws apply to internships? Such as hiring practice with regards to minorities, limits on the number of hours in the working week etc.
If you're curious about the inevitable result of a culture that fosters unpaid internships, have a look here: http://jobbridgetonowhere.t…
Abortions for some, miniature American flags for others!
Well let's not say "forced" then, which of course in all interpretations always means the threat of violence. I mean that in order to get into the AV Club, at some point you're going to have to intern there. So generally, yes, there are options of being paid - but these are more and more limited by the proliferation…
Agreed, and I found Sean's tone - while inevitably chuckle-worthy - to be very unsettling. If the AV Club are going to use interns (as they are now recruiting for in the Toronto branch) then they could at least admit that they are getting shit for free that other people are paid for every day. I'll grant that the AV…
Yes. Can't remember it exactly but it was something vague enough that could be applied to her own feelings, but she cut out as she was distracted by Lily's boobs.
One story that hasn't been picked up (or even mentioned in comments) yet is Robin's crush. Thoughts? Seems one too many LOVEBLOCKS for the mix, but they could probably make it work.
It's a fair point. You can't just make up the dichotomy of "they're friends like any other" or "they have feelings and it'll never work". To a certain extent when you love someone once, you love them forever, but that makes them a little bit different from your regular friends - it doesn't automatically make being…
I think the acknowledgement of how weird it is isn't necessarily about it being a traditional love triangle. It hurts Robin because she's pining for Barney, it hurts Ted because while he might not love Robin she is a safety net that holds him back, and it hurts Barney because BOOBS.
One thing I've always been surprised and delighted by in HIMYM is how Ted's revolving door of girlfriends have been so clearly fleshed out, likeable and - unlike in many other shows - actually given good jokes to work with.
Maybe that's why Victoria spaced on her fiance's name - he's actually Hitler.
Could we please make it a word? I've run into that problem a few times in the past week, and end up saying "intrepid" which is an adjective but entirely the wrong one.
To Prole Hole (above or below, I can't tell), may seem like a bit of random self-publicising but I have a spec script I wrote for Who you might be interested in: http://parallelevision.word…
I absolutely adore that they keep Googling everything. The fact that Gwen, after two months of research, was still typing "the blessing" into Google.
So THAT's what they look like.
I was talking with someone earlier about this, and my main problem with the show - apart from the epic wheel-spinning - is Jack. He manages to be inhuman, secretive, smug and overly sexualised at once, and Barrowman doesn't do it any favours.
I love me some Jilly, and Lauren Ambrose to boot. This is speaking as a gay man with no interest in pretty fashion - I just like how fucking batshit mental Ambrose has gone on the part. Right character, wrong show.
I was doing a blog post on this recently (I'll refrain from spamming the boards), reviewing a couple of episodes back and I just said "fuck it, I'm just imagining it's in an alternate universe".
