This episode set up a lot of tantalizing shit for next week and possibly next season (right now I'm thinking of The Glaze becoming Jon's nemesis and Mishka = new Jon?)

Adult Swim, in all its infinite wisdom, refuses to put out official DVD releases of the rest of Moral Orel in our own region. Otherwise, it would've been much more widely discussed. Maybe that can change whenever the Moral Orel special gets made.

"…which finishes up its 16th season tonight…"

I saw Les dames du Bois de Boulogne, which suggested that Bresson would still have been considered a very good filmmaker if he never adopted the whole "model" thing. I also saw Le Samouraï. My first Melville was Army of Shadows in 35mm, which was very good yet I couldn't quite truly love it. With Le Samouraï, though,

I KNEW I SHOULD'VE HAD HIM ABORTED

Clay Puppington from Moral Orel. An absolutely reprehensible, loathsome son of a bitch but he's still the most compelling character Adult Swim ever produced.

For there to be any outrage, Bleach would have to be any good in the first place.

Most anime is for pedophiles in arrested development.

"Given the typical flatness he demanded of his actors, and his own
stone-faced persona, it’s hard to imagine Bresson even capable of a
smirk."

Another miscellaneous observation:

I liked the reprise of the indirect kiss scene, only this time with Ninamori instead of Mamimi. Shipping Naota & Ninamori is probably the least creepy pairing and therefore, the most satisfying.

I remember reading this years ago from someone on the internet (I'm paraphrasing):

I-C-A-N

I don't think this episode aired until February 2002. September 2001 really wasn't the best time for Adult Swim's premiere.

Well… not 'only' in the next-episode montage… =)

I always thought of 'Little Busters' as more of a denouement song.

-Very good analysis of the Cafe Bleu scene. I think it's also important to note that the design for the cafe was apparently modeled on a love hotel. Pretty obvious implications there.
