I watched it very sporadically throughout the first season, saw the finale when it aired, had my mind blown, and then proceeded to miss almost the entire first half of the second season. The episode I jumped back into with? "Peter." From then on, I didn't miss an episode. Fringe did so many things better than it ever

I think the idea is that while they can travel through time at will, they can't travel backwards to where they know someone is and then kill that person. That's what the superior meant about probabilities, I think.
