I was not aware of this - I'll have to check it out!

I've been listening to NVM lately and really enjoy it - looking forward to giving this one a listen.

The music reviews have seemed a lot better/more interesting and more plentiful of late. Kudos to the AVC.

Speaking as somebody who is in a young C86/Sarah Records-inspired (or at least partially inspired) band in the US - it definitely made it across the Atlantic.

Not Everything Needs To Be A Video, Internet!

Me too. It's one of my favorite sci-fi films and (especially the Director's Cut) vastly underrated.

This thing's actually pretty shitty for people who make music.

Yeah, seriously.

I think there was one song - "Cool," I think - off her first solo album I kind of enjoyed.

I still like "Tragic Kingdom" and "Return of Saturn" a lot, but everything else Stefani has done since then - from "Rock Steady"* to her solo stuff - I've found to be total garbage.

All these CGI animated kids' movies look the same nowadays - same sort of character designs, same facial expressions, same poses and moves, same kind of basic logo color/font, same virtual camera moves, etc. etc. etc.

"Didn't we say all we needed to say in the first Beetlejuice? Must we go tropical?"

It feels to me like the classic, irritating tech nerd "higher specs are always better" thing.

I dunno, I mean, I loved CDs as much as the next person, but…good digital files are indistinguishable from CDs on any system I will ever be able to afford, and I'm able to discover a LOT more music I like nowadays via iTunes/Apple Music and Bandcamp (for all my really obscure indie band stuff) than I ever was in the

Dunno about the rest, but iTunes doesn't put out "low-quality MP3s." They're in AAC format, and they're 256k, which is up there around the quality of a 320k MP3 from everything I've ever been able to tell (AAC being a bit more efficient codec than MP3)

I really like Conner's art style, but as an *extremely* occasional comics reader I had no idea she was doing more writing than drawing lately. That makes me sad.

Yeah, that's some Grade-A lazy non-researching right there. C'mon, AVC.

I've never heard of this The Peanut Butter Solution. How weird can it be…

I cannot stand her music, but I do agree people ought to leave her alone for her general weirdness and such.

Despite all the people claiming Austin is "over," as a Texan, I still like Austin a lot. I even still enjoy going to SXSW (strictly for the non-official shows) - it's a crazy experience and I enjoy finding little shows in cafes and bike shops with cool bands performing in the shadows of the massive tech-sponsored
