Chris Conley, who made it his life's work to show up on everything that mentioned Michael Bay and tell everybody how us "hipsters" were wrong about Bay because he's history's greatest artist, or something.

Yep. This is one of many areas where the "newer is always better! More data/information is always better!" thing one sees from tech person circles and such in comments falls utterly flat to me - sometimes you *don't* want omg more data. Sometimes you want some artificiality/"worse" tech.

Loveless should have been higher. Definitely above Wye Oak.

no

You're not supposed to play a ukulele with a pick.

I have tried so hard to get into Speedy Ortiz, but everything I've ever heard from them sounds, like, 3/4 finished. Like, there's a good idea in this song, but it could have used a few more rewrites and some more effort, or something.

Fav songs I can think of that came out this year, off the top of my head:

Yeah, "effortless" is how it comes across. They're great live, too - Mary and Betsy Wright on bass are all high kicks and back-to-back riffing and just seem to generally be having the most fun of any musicians I've ever seen.

Yeah I noticed that a ton of Soundcloud pages are having issues this morning. It's not just them. When Soundcloud stops misbehaving, that's the right link.

The Ex Hex album is so great. Such a fun bit of punk-y rock greatness with that unbeatable Timony seasoning.

I already commented in agreement on the main post, but I'm doing so again here, because I *really* love that album.

There's one other one besides "Bury Our Friends" - it's on their Soundcloud (which is a recent addition to S-K land, I think). It's called "Surface Envy" and it's a classic bit of Corin Tucker-powered fierce badassery, like the old days. https://soundcloud.com/slea…

I stumbled across that album not long ago (thanks to Sean Nelson helping get the word out for his old bandmate), and completely fell in love with it. Easily one of my favorite things I heard this year.

My three favorite things this year were "Rips" by Ex Hex, "Brill Bruisers" by the New Pornographers, and "Projection Room" by Sleepy Kitty.

Rumor I read from Devin Faraci is that Orci's script was part of the problem and it's likely most/all of it is gone, too. It was some said to be some convoluted thing about Starfleet, the Vulcans, and a third new race all competing to take control of a time travel device (the way they'd let Pine and Shatner share the

The Craig was born many years ago.

This looked less "bad" than "utterly forgettable" so…nice going, studio?

lol ok

If peer pressure from music sites factored into things, one would think we'd see more variety and more quantity in the music reviews.

This will certainly turn out to be quality and not at all awful.
