I actually totally agree with you on a lot of this stuff, especially when it comes to people letting political differences to force themselves away from good art, but there's also a line where, say, people may not be willing to give money to somebody like Orson Scott Card who could then use said money to fund anti-gay

Rewatching the entire run of Fraiser with my mom on Netflix, they definitely go to that well a few too many times. But the show never laughs at gay people's expense, which is a plus, I guess. The jokes with the food critic stem more from his very poor attempt to stay in the closet, similar to Tobias on Arrested

I think it's more that this was not a happy sex safe environment between several kinky individuals but instead a man using his very real world power to intimidate people into performing sexual acts they weren't comfortable with.

Yeah, his sugar-daddying is a little weird, but he seems like a guy who at least has a sense of humor about his politics.
