I'd say Repulsion is more immediately disturbing than Rosemary's Baby, not to take anything away from the either film. Rosemary's Baby stuck with me, and I credit it with teaching me that the horror in horror films usually comes from actions of the human characters. It's not horrifying anymore that it was a movie

My mistake Ross's book is "Secrets of a Sparrow". Want a hint of how bad? One of the things that kept her from getting a book deal for so long was her refusal to divulge ANYTHING about her personal life. That bad.

And OH my god - Diana Ross's own memoir "His Eye Is On The Sparrow" - oh my god, bad bad bad. A friend bought it for me and I couldn't read it but I would glance at it now and then.

"Call Her Miss Ross" is pretty excellent. It was written by Jay Taborelli, who had been president of their fan club as a young boy and young man, and had very intimate access to them. Yes there's dirt but it seems actually very even-handed, and just rings true. Of course I read it a looong time ago.

Eh I thought it was adequate, but only just - I knew it wouldn't compare to the totally awesome Casino Royale.
