They're not EXACTLY a joke, but they're not serious. The topic of slavery isn't of any real concern to the movie, which uses it as a jump off point to make a contemporary riff on exploitation films. The slavery and revenge scenes are handled with the same insensitive "badass" varnish.

You may ask yourself why Tarantino makes movies where he uses the N-word so much, but I don't get why it doesn't belong in DJANGO UNCHAINED. That's conceivably how slave owners talked.

The only part I thought was funny was a gag involving the advent calendar. The movie just isn't clever at all. It's subversion for suckers.

Yeah. My understanding was always that the Coens did a fairly early draft of the script, and weren't happy with the finished film.

I'm with ya there. Beer Bad is the worst Buffy episode. Doublemeat Palace, while not at the comedic ep highs of seasons 2 and 3, at least has a brutal honesty to it.

She looks like Rhea Perlman.

What is up with this site's ratings for the show? I don't watch a ton of television, but I've seen this before. And C+ indicates that this isn't even close to being one of the absolute worst things on TV.

The individual songs aren't as layered or polished, but Mellon Collie is way more diverse and experimental than Siamese Dream. Cupid De Locke, Love, Tonight Tonight, Tales of a Scorched Earth… it doesn't all sound the same.

That's exactly how I take this album. It's over-the-top and indulgent by design, and managed to be the perfect expression of being a suburban teenager in the mid to late '90s, with the vast melodramatic array of things that entailed. That's a tough thing to pull off without being overtly precious. But this album

There's no filler on Mellon Collie. Some songs aren't as great as others, but they're all essential to shaping it. Its diversity and reach are among its defining strengths.

Because it's engrained through years of use. There's nothing sudden about it. Simply spelled as "ho" doesn't make it less of a slang term. It's been a part of hip-hop culture for a long time, and it's commonly spelled both ways.
