This is my wife's favourite ever Simpsons joke. She loses it every time we watch this episode (which is often).

Interesting thoughts, even if I think you're giving it too much weight.

For some reason, the detail in this article that interested me the most was that Sparks' agent's name is Park.

Good point. I always thought that scene with Donna and the president was leading to her replacing Mrs Landingham, but like so many other things - especially Donna things, as others note - it never went anywhere.

Yep, the Josh-Screams-At-Congress was the show's lowest point, I think, but the rest of the shutdown arc was good stuff.

The other problem was that half the main cast had left the west wing itself by then - Josh, Donna, Will to the campaign, Leo semi-retired and then off on campaign (& then…), Charlie largely absent, Toby quit in disgrace. I have two stories, although there could be many more - my parents are conservative Christians who simply do not swear and who have turned off family movies because of excessive swearing (one of the Back To The Future sequels got that treatment, I recall). Tried that auctions crap once with my sister (we were dedicated Monopolists for a while there in our early teens, and at some point actually read the rules & decided to give that a try). It's the fricking stupidest thing ever. Especially in two-person games, I guess.

Maybe it's just been too long since I first watched the previous episodes, but I must admit that my main feeling about each episode so far this season is: 'right, must watch these all again once the season is done'. They just seem, even compared to previous series (which all improved on rewatching), so dense & much
