Seconded. You think Tig Notaro's 10+ Taylor Dayne routine is funny? Attucks had 20 minutes on whaling that had 'em rollin' in the aisles in the Bahamas. Didn't play as well in Boston, though.

In this case, she absolutely got the premise. I think she just didn't love being reminded of particular pieces of crap in her back catalog…like, say, Amityville 3D. But she kept her sense of humor throughout, which is the hallmark of a solid Random Roles in my estimation. (It's also why the Corey Feldman conversation

Truthfully, I think she was afraid that she'd just go on and on about it…which would've been absolutely fine under other circumstances, but we were at the TCA tour and the interview timeslots were very much set up in a "come in, have a seat, get it done, and get the hell out" fashion.

As I told Sam Waterston when I talked to him for the AV Club (although I don't think it ended up in the final piece), The Man in the Moon is one of those movies that just made me bawl like a freaking baby. He took this revelation in stride, as well he should have, since far manlier men than myself have been stricken

To date, she remains the only person who has actually screamed at me about a role I've asked about. It felt like kind of a milestone.

You probably saw this when it originally posted, but I'm going to use this forum to just underline that I will forever cite my interview w/ Mel Brooks last year as one of the most wonderful conversations I've had in my career.

Really? I imagine him composing it, posting it, waiting a beat, and then mouthing the words "of cock" and giggling to himself for the rest of the day.

The truth of the matter is that I didn't know about his problems with his parents, mostly because when I do research for these things, it tends to be about the projects rather than the person. I didn't even know about the molestation stuff until after the first part of the interview, at which point I realized, "Maybe

Hey, I'm not saying they were Shakespeare. They were more along the lines of assigning us farm animals to portray and knowing our appropriate sounds for our lines. But she called them "plays." And lord knows she had the hang of directing.

It was on my list, but when he gave that blanket statement about the era, I figured, "What's the point?"
