Agreed. Especially since - FYI, @avclub-130f14e3e5c0263f013b56d8c212f26a:disqus - Miguel Ferrer was done a couple of years back.

Yeah, and that - as you might've noticed - kind of threw off my rhythm. But give the guy credit for knowing the stuff he's done that people have most enjoyed.

Just so's you know, we were on a hard and fast 15 minutes, I didn't get
to everything I wanted, and…that's just the way it goes sometimes. But when I told him I hadn't read his new book yet, he had his publicist send over a PDF within an hour or two of the interview wrapping up, which I thought was pretty cool of him.

Not so much grumpy as…well, basically, he was Ed Asner. Which would be a completely evasive response to the question if I didn't think you probably knew what I meant by that. I honestly couldn't get a read on him and how much he was enjoying or being annoyed by the conversation, so it was hard to know how much to push

And that actually proved fascinating for me, since I had no idea what he was talking about until I did the research. Man, those things were crazy

Trying to get comments about his non-Up voiceover work was like pulling teeth.

Totally. And he should - in theory - be at the TCA tour next month (he's part of the cast of ABC's Last Resort), so I'll try to get him while I'm there.

FYI, I totally tried to get Sherilyn Fenn to do Random Roles in conjunction with this film. Denied!

I say that, yes, there's plenty enough Waterston to make The Newsroom worth watching. In fact, after watching an advance screener of the pilot, I pointedly went to HBO and asked if he was available for an interview, explaining, "Everyone's going to expect a Jeff Daniels interview before the show premieres, but after

I'm sure devout steampunk aficionados will inform me that I oversimplified the concept, which I probably did, but I figured it was better to focus in on the anachronistic aspects so he'd understand why Q.E.D. had developed a cult following amongst the movement.

Sometimes an opportunity presents itself and you just have to take it. Plus, even 30 years later, I still remember how much I loved Q.E.D., when it was (briefly) on the air.
