Yes, but although the quote was deleted, the admission of past dumbassery remains for all to see. I can live with that.

I wish Lea Thompson's Random Roles hadn't had a quote from an Elisabeth Shue movie as its firstie.

For what it's worth, this was my favorite Inventory to contribute to since the first one I ever did (“'Who are three people who have never been in my kitchen?': 16 TV-character crossovers with real game shows"), if only because it's exactly the sort of thing that started bringing me to the AV Club as a reader. It's

I am saying that, but I'll offer the caveat that I basically listened to nothing but top-40 'til I went alternative(-ish) sometime in '87, so the only times in my life I've ever listened to classic rock with any regularity have been when it's been on the radio at some manual labor job or other. Maybe the song's merits

I admit, it's not nearly as great once you've heard the original. But at the time, I hadn't, so I was, like, "This is a Bob Seger song…?" So I can't dismiss it out of hand even now. Clearly, there was still enough there to pique my interest about Seger's own version.

Say what you will, but if I had to pick a favorite Aqua song (and, clearly, I do have to), I'd go with this one:

So is "Love Will Turn You Around."

I thought I'd never want to hear another Bob Seger song EVER until I heard Metallica's cover of "Turn the Page." I'd never heard the song before, and I totally reevaluated Seger after that. I'll probably still never own anything by him, because classic-rock radio has played him into fucking oblivion for me, but I've

Yeah, I'll second "Waking Up in Vegas." I couldn't have cared less about "I Kissed A Girl," but the first time I heard "Waking Up in Vegas," I immediately wanted to know who sang it so that I could buy it. And I did buy it, too. No shame here.

I'd throw "Part of the Queue" into the mix as well, which caused me to do a double-take during my first spin of Don't Believe the Truth. Upon hearing it, I actually believed for a moment that the band might finally break out of their Fab Faux rut and do something truly great that didn't require an instant Beatles

Thus far, they have survived a couple of C-minuses from me without incident. If it drops beyond that level, then I'll be pretty annoyed, anyway, and will want to write a review to express my dismay. And if it comes to that, then hopefully they'll feel appropriately chagrined.

He's so nice, he even offered to buy me a cup of coffee during the interview. I thanked him but declined. He said, "Are you sure? This'll probably be the only time I ever offer to buy you a cup of coffee." Damn me for being polite…

Latest update: it may happen on President's Day. Because, y'know, as a New Zealander, he doesn't feel obliged to join in all the annual festivities like, uh, not getting mail, and all those other wonderful goings-on that make it such a special, special day for Americans.

Still fighting to get Sam Neill on the phone for his Random Roles. (He's agreed to do it, but his schedule is murder right about now, what with filming Alcatraz and all.) Maybe you'll end up wanting to have brews with both of them when all's said and done.

To clarify this matter early, even though I had all three of his Egoyan collaborations on my list to ask him about, I…well, basically, I fucked up and thought I'd asked him about them when I hadn't. Once I realized this, I immediately contacted his publicist and asked if he'd be willing to either hop back on the phone

You may be right. In fact, you probably are. But I checked Fox's press site and couldn't find confirmation - they only refer to the character by her present-day identity there - so I foolishly went with what I thought I heard them call her. D'oh…

"My hair!"

The best bit, of course, is that Bill Pullman played the president in "Independence Day," so he clearly meant "Deep Impact." That, or he just got his fictional presidents wrong all together. But there's no way I was going to correct him.

What can I say? Time was fleeting, and if I was only going to have time to ask about one record with Linda, then it was going to be my personal favorite.
