I see your point, but he was thickly accented and obviously Latino, which rightly or wrongly, is coded as non-white in the United States. Also, I would want to know whether Juan Pablo considers himself white before I'm comfortable categorizing him.

I love unReal because of Appleby and Zimmer's performance. And even if I have to suspend disbelief on things (the show is live? people think being the Suitor will rehabilitate their image?), I enjoy the way the show plays with the narrative archetypes, not just of reality TV but of all TV. Also, I like how unrelenting

"My Right Hand Man" is a song in Keating! a musical about the Australian Prime Minister. Just have to rework the lyrics a bit.

I actually think it's a terrible strategy. People who watch The Bachelorette don't want the whiplash of then watching unReal and in my experience there's heavy overlap.

This is a great article and I do agree that the remake does solve some of the problems of the original. The Africa scenes though did raise their own problems. For instance, I couldn't help but almost chuckle at the actors' reading of "It's wrong to own slaves [sotto voce] unlessyouhavepermissionoftheking."

Nancy Botwin? Alexis was a straight up villain.

Great news.I won't have to be sweating over the ratings. I hope Season 3 is either the Bachelorette or a Suitor who is there for the "Right Reasons" which IMO would make Rachel's job tougher because she wouldn't have leverage.

They keep calling Jessica Jones an anitheroine, but other than being the world's most unconvincing alcoholic, what morally wrong things does she do. (I like the show BTW)

I'll probably see this. I went into the first one with rock bottom expectations, that weren't met but all the voice actors did a good job in the first one, particularly Ritchson's churlish Raphael and Fisher's dopily enthusiastic Michelangelo. The avalanche scene was quite good, and the rest of the movie was harmless .

Oh, it's just a sort of mini-Jason movie done in a single 10 minute sequence. It's really the execution that works (pun unintended).

The 2009 reboot has an entertaining Travis Van Winkle as a colossal dbag even by horror movie standards in addition to the pre-credit sequences.

Borrowing from the Dany is the villain interpretation as seen on Vox. It does bookend her with flashbacks to the Mad King at the opening of the episode.

Ryan Murphy has cast him in next season of Scream Queens.

Maybe it was just the comparison with GoT before it, but this didn't really interest me.

Hopefully, Bradley James and Barbara Hershey can move on to better projects.

"Now that Tom Carvel is dead, I can speak freely."

I thought you of all people, Franko, would not forget Dan Gauthier on the WB "comedy" Muscle.

They should make documentaries about every major candidate for Mayor of New York City, even a small one by the NY Times on Christine Quinn (Hers to Lose) was very good.

There was a gay Hart to Hart reboot that was in development, so somebody may have beaten you to the punch.

While I think that CBS has a remarkably retrograde lineup, I do concede that it has to be thought of in the context of ABC's strategy and the fact there about 3 "women's oriented" cable channels for every Spike.
