@Nice dolphin nigga - I definitely agree about the female characters.  Fantastic and weird and among the best ever on TV.

that's an interesting differential.  I kind of agree, in that I rarely felt the emotional punch that the other two Greats would deal out consistently, but Deadwood's engagement was much more immediately intellectual than those other two.  So it gave me a different kind of hard-on, but a hard-on all the same.
