ween?
i haven't listened to of montreal for a hugely long time, but i have been listening to them quite a lot over the past few months particularly, and this new album has made me realize a connection…

i feel the same way about hissing fauna as you do about satanic panic — since i got it, i have not been able to stop listening to it, even more so than satanic panic, which i feel similarly about. they are somewhat different sounds, sure, but both very catchy, well-written, and fun. that'd be my next suggestion.

happy & nice
so maybe stephanie might come across as a little boring, but wow, i don't think any other contestant would have given such a positive, happy, and genuinely nice interview.

two paws up
"Picking up the remote can become a life-changing act when you watch one of these movies. If animals wrote movie reviews, they'd give these films two paws up."

we've got to lie to them…
can we talk for a minute (or maybe not down here at the bottom of the comments) about how unlikely the whole lying decision seemed?

speaking of polar bears…
did anyone notice and find amusement in the commercial for adopting polar bears during this episode?
it was just funny to see all of the polar bears out of place, and i wondered if they realized how well that fits into the lost mythology… hehe

i was SO SURE it was ben!
jeremy bentham was his alias, right?
the entire episode i was patting myself on the back for my correct prediction from last year…
even when ben appeared in the room, i thought somehow he was also in the coffin…
lost absolutely blows my mind constantly.

doc jensen
has anyone read doc jenson's review yet? equally perceptive, but he raised some different theories from noel's. one of the most interesting ideas is that locke could actually be the "him" — ben's superior — that ben always kind of refers to, by way of time-travel. is locke actually captain Other? i like the

oh! i like the idea of richard knowing about destiny and stuff BECAUSE of time traveling. that's a fascinating concept. when, i wonder, then, did he first meet locke? on the island? (PS did locke and richard ever meet on the island? if so, mightn't locke have recognized him?) or did richard first discover him as a

dalai lama tests
i don't know much about the dalai lama, but when richard was administering that test to kiddie-locke (who was super-cute, by the way), i immediately thought of walt. anyone else make that connection? there's something about "special" kids with certain powers of perception (and beyond?) coming to the

locke is his mother's name — the nurse called his grandmother "mrs. locke."

oh, claire is so dead.
either that, or something REALLY creepy is going on.
i wonder when she died? miles kept on looking at her as they were walking along, probably because she was already dead. did she die when sawyer went to save her at the explosion? if so, why did she act mostly normal afterwards?

why would they have a rule like that, though? i can't imagine ben and widmore sitting in a room before the whole rivalry begins and saying "well, we're going to try to destroy each other and everyone the other person works with now, but let's just say no killing family, huh? cause family's important."

good stuff
i actually hadn't thought about the possibility that ben was traveling through time when he went into the back room. that does seem plausible.
i also was really prepared for claire to be dead in this episode, being that we can assume that she dies at some point before getting off the island. i hate to say

i really think it's way too high of an expectation to assume that every single episode will be amazing. this is a 6 season show, and it's has had, and is going to have its ups and downs, because… well, damn, that's a lot of tv. i totally agree that there are some not great/borderline shitty episodes, but there are

what i would like to know is, if you think lost is poorly written, which i totally disagree with, what do you think is WELL written? there is so much crap on tv that i think lost stands out as being at a much higher level than the rest.

oh, i like bernard too! but you have to admit, he is a little silly.

weak beginning, but…
i thought it was a good episode. i was definitely captive the whole time, and definitely tricked up until the very very end. i also think it's a really important development that we find out that ben was the one who staged the plane wreck. where does all of ben's resources come from? did he plan

yum
on richard: i'd say less mild-mannered than you give him credit for being. it was kind of an asshole move to use two pizza pans when there were clearly only enough for one each. i'm excited for his molecular gastronomy, but he could be a jerk in disguise.

oh, snarky lost writers
i agree that this episode wasn't amazing, but it definitely did have its fun moments. aside from the great ben lines that have been pointed out above, i LOVED juliet's "it can be really stressful being an Other" — it's great when the show gets self-conscious like that.
