I always took Tywin fucking Shae as another way to be cruel to Tyrion, whom he assumes has developed actual feelings for Shae.

They pretty explicitly are making her a completely different character from book Shae. I think the idea they're going for is Tyrion wanting someone who's more of an intellectual equal than book Shae, who's not particularly smart of knowledgeable. Or Lorathi.

I agree. I like the story of Ned sacrificing his precious honor for his dying sister by saving her son from getting his head Cleganed by claiming him much, much more than a seemingly motiveless baby switch.

If I'm remembering the Knight of the Laughing tree's story correctly, Benjen is at Harrenhal, but sounds like he'd have been too young to knock up Ashara Dayne. I've always assumed he joined the Nights Watch after Robert's Rebellion once Ned and Cat had a couple of kids and felt secure about the succession.

I really like Dillane as Stannis, but the writers really screwed him by showing him fucking Melisandre on the aweseome table map in a way that made it seem like he'd been overcome with lust for her. It'd be much more Stannis to have only grudgingly agreed to bang her and told her to get it over with quick. And make…

I think prophecy generally sucks, but Martin seems to be using in a more interesting way than usual, as far as having Melisandre have some ability to see the future, but not perfect ability and there being a lot of room for mistaken interpretations. I think Cersei's prophecy stuff is about the character believing in…

I'm pretty sure you're right. And I'm equally sure Ramsay reneged, flayed them and had a snack.

Hey! Tecumseh, I said exactly that to my wife in why we shouldn't cancel it after Game of Thrones ends.

And it shows that Tywin's horse can shit on the carpet in the throne room and everyone is afraid to laugh at something that's self-evidently hilarious.
