We don't even know yet what name she will use. The book she will appear in is called Iron-Man, but it's a continuation of the current series and Tony Stark will still be in it as her mentor so the title is no indication of her code name.

Because she's apparently very good at it? The Marvel universe is full of crime-fighting teenagers.

I wish that current events were responsible, but people were still up in arms over the Iron Man change just one day earlier. This Sulu debate is really an outlier.

I adore Chekov, I would have loved him to be gay, though in hindsight I'm glad that it wasn't him because, well, he's dead now. Scotty could have worked as well, as far as I know about the canon.
I'm also not a big fan of Star Trek (I was more into Next Generation as a kid), but I'm a big fan of representation, and

Well, he's the only gay person on the crew that we know of.
But yes, the gender and racial imbalance is still very noticeable and can't be denied.

Ah okay, I can see where you're coming from. (English is only my second language, and while I think my grasp of it is good enough for common internet discussion, sometimes I don't get every nuance.)

But if the media didn't filter everything, we couldn't be outraged and nobody would write thinkpieces!

Yeah, the claim that they did it to honor him is the one thing I don't like about the whole affair. Do it because it's the right to do (which it is), not because you want to honor someone who doesn't even want this. This way it really just reeks of publicity stunt.

Or maybe it just makes him bi, or a gay guy who can still appreciate a pretty lady? "Either gay or closeted" are not the only options.

It is a bit of a pill to swallow, but I like how Simon Pegg explained it in his statement, not quoted above:

I watched the whole season (it got better with episode nine, to the point where I didn't mind watching it, but still didn't mind its cancelation), and I can't even remember seeing him at all.

That is an interesting thought. I was only thinking as someone who already knows the old, straight Sulu and can differentiate between Cho-Sulu and Takei-Sulu. But you're right, future generations will probably see them as the same character, and will think Original Flavor Sulu has always been gay. And all I can say

Yeah, I can totally see where Takei is coming from and understand his concerns, but I also think the other side has the better arguments.

It seems to me that doing it even though they knew it was against his wish means they ignored it. But they were completely in the right to do so, and I'm Team Pegg in this debate.

I don't really see how John Cho's portrayal changes anything about the way Takei portrayed him. I know they're acting as if these are the same characters, but I don't buy it. It's a reboot in my opinion. But I also know that this is a minority opinion.

Well, Clifford definitely did die on the way to his home planet.

OH! You mean the guy who hosted Muppets Tonight, Clifford!

To be fair, John Cho is way hotter than Simon Pegg, so I'm glad about the decision of Sulu over Scotty, no matter the reasons.

I think Bones already talked about his ex-wife in the first movie, so he was out. He would have been my preferred choice as well otherwise.

I learned to like Pepe sometime in the past twenty years, but he's definitely, unmistakenly a total 90s creation.
