I don't really think Pete had turned it up on purpose— he usually doesn't have any problem making it obvious when he's rubbing it in someone's face. I think he's just that oblivious. I really believed him when he said he had nothing but good things to say about Ken— I'd dare say it was a sign Pete has matured, as he

Disqus' corporate slogan should be "Never attribute to malice that which can be explained by stupidity."

We'd better see a Mets pennant for Lane at some point. Miracle Mets! Somebody must have remembered!

My best guess: A realization that Pete sort of pities him and/or doesn't really think he can make it as a writer. (And it either triggered Ken to confront the fact that he didn't believe he could make it as a writer, either, or that he would rather stick it to the people who spited and pitied him.)

I don't think Ken has some preexisting Irish prejudice so much as he was frustrated that he never fit in during his time at M-E (likely in part because he wasn't Irish).

EDIT: I thought you were referring to an actor named Dennis Ford. But I looked up Greg Cromer (Doc Potterywood) and he played him this episode— I didn't recognize him.

Don doesn't jump off a building in the intro.

Also reasonable. I think there was a lot going on there.

Man, just like Homer, I used to laugh at that line, but now I realize it is the sad truth.

I don't understand what you are trying to say.

You're selfish because you care about clinging to your ideology more than its real-world effects. You're selfish because you think the right to be free from discrimination is an "entitlement" not as important as your greed. You're selfish because you put your own personal property before human rights.

Well, Salon is already bitching that he's a white male, so he's well on his way.
