Loved ID4 back in '96. It was really well done, at least compared to the Michael Bay movies that followed. It's still very entertaining.

Simpsons + Giorgio Moroder = Internet!

Headline from 2018:

That Oscar debacle was basically, the last gasp of the pre-irony era in mass entertainment (see also: variety shows). By the next year, Billy Crystal was making fun of the awards show song-and-dance, then the halftime show started highlighted famous musicians.

Surely you can't be talking about the same Michael Bay who directed the "I Touch Myself" video.

Maybe it was, but [That Skit Only I Remember] was ahead of its time.

The OFFICIAL teaser of Empire Strikes Back is similar, and is actually great. One of my favorite trailers.

How did I never notice this lyric in Under the Sea before?

My reaction to Animaniacs is similar to Kimmy Schmidt. Something like, "yes, it's funny, but they were locked in a water tower for over 60 years?! Sixty years?! I'm having trouble getting past that dark premise."

Wait. What? If anything, The Hip were that really Canadian band that DOES NOT do well in America. Outside of some border cities, they're famous for not being well known in the States.

How do you like Sam Roberts and not The Hip? They both play straight ahead, Kee to Bala rock-n-roll to audiences of inebriated Canadians.

No. The Hip are as identifiably Canadian as Tim Hortons and poutine. In that regard, they weren't a punchline, but shorthand for Canadian. But unlike Tim's and poutine, The Hip are genuinely great.

I probably never sat in a Muskoka chair by the dock holding a Blue while listening to "Ahead by a Century."

But it was legal in 1986, when the movie was released. The film actually inspired the law.

For goat! For goat! Medicine for goat!

British people and Sugababes fans know "Are Friends Electric?"

“The more it insists on the importance of magic and dreams … the less magical and dreamlike it seems.”

The baby in Trainspotting would now be as old as I was when I saw Trainspotting.

Also, I'll watch "Crash" ten more times before I subject myself to "Grand Canyon" again, even though on paper, Canyon should be the much better film.

Everyone is racist, but nobody is anti-Semitic or homophobic.
