Well they didn't say over 90% of AV Club crowd would hate it.

Madness.

Madness.

I thought it was pronounced that way for a while.

@DoctorChimRichalds:disqus Yeah. It was good on him to put the thing together, but he was out of his depth.

Bamford is great. I found the voice-switching off-putting and hacky the first time I listened to her, especially because it seems like a distancing device, but I gave her more of a chance and found that she's very honest and thoughtful, and the small amount of distancing is really almost a joke because it's clear how

He's a very good writer and show-runner, and a pretty good actor, but without the distancing of a character he hasn't found a good way to be honest or deeply self-critical in his standup or public appearances. There's nowhere near the depth or self-awareness that he has in his TV shows, and it really looks absurd next

I think Gervais is a good point of comparison, because he's respected and comedically talented, but he obviously is guilty of it. He completely overplayed the Golden Globes thing and constantly plays up his atheism when a great many comedians are also openly atheist but don't act like it makes them some kind of bad

This whole thing was great. I was pleasantly surprised with how well her parents were taking it - really good sense of humor with those two, and good courage to not want to be sheltered from her pain. It seems clear they love her. Reflects very well on them and her.

The show is o.k. I think Dunham's strength is in her boldness and observation rather than her storytelling skill. It's in a lot of ways a regular old hammy sitcom, and that does get in the way of it having a bigger impact, even if a lot of good choices are made on the detail level.

Huh, so that's what that song sounds like. Ok.
