Marnie is one of my favorite Hitchcock films (partially because some of it was filmed in my old stomping grounds), but yeah, that suffers from the same anti-climactic yakfest at the end.  At least Sean Connery delivers that one, which makes it a little easier for me to take.

@avclub-bca3531762af8a993c4f60c48fd5e33b:disqus it was one of the things that made the later episodes suffer.  Young Mr. Grace was sublime and irreplaceable.  Also, Mr. Grainger.
The awesome chemistry between Mr. Humphries and Mr. Lucas is what I miss most, though, about later AYBS? episodes.

Garak is neither bad or good…he's just Garak.

As much as I love Garak (which is a whole hell of a lot), it probably is a good thing that he resisted being used in an episode too often.  Made his appearances all the more sweet.

Personally, I would have cut that whole speech after he has the line about that part of Norman being gone forever.  Just go right to Norman sitting in the prison cell, then the car.

It's like how in Are You Being Served?, Old Mr. Grace always seemed off because he was a younger man in old age makeup.  Young Mr. Grace really was an old coot, and therefore much more endearing.  Old age makeup is really difficult to do, I suppose.

Kinda like how Psycho screeches to a halt when the psychologist at the end just won't shut the hell up?  Sorry, personal pet peeve of mine…

Did the makeup always look bad, or does it just look bad because of our fancy pants television sets now?  I really don't know.  I can't remember thinking this episode was bad makeup-wise when it first came out.  Granted, I was only 12 then, so what the hell did I know.

As a woman, I refuse to read 50 Shades.  I get stubborn about stuff like that.
