I watched "The Visitor" a few weeks ago. The first time I watched it as a parent, and, oh God, I thought it wrecked me before. I was an incoherent mess for a good while after the credits rolled.

I will defend Jake as a character and Lofton as an actor to the living end. How many shows (and I don't mean just Trek, but any television show) have children who actually act like normal kids? So many are either wunderkinds, overly precocious, full of emo angst, or just generally horribly acted.
