I just read Shatner's Star Trek Movie Memories, and I gotta say, Roddenberry had some straight-up weird concepts for the movies.  Bless the man for creating Star Trek, but he had some kooky ideas.

Gene was an awesome host, no doubt.  I also like the format of it, because they didn't have to fit a certain number of rounds into the show, therefore allowing the celebs to just goof off and go on delightfully drunk tangents.
