I was just about to address that as well. It would have completely ruined my immersion for the finale if they did that. It is not something exclusive to kid shows, but monarchies are never a good alternative when others exist, yet it is forgotten when one member of the line vindicates themselves.

It would probably be set over a hundred years into the future, even two hundred years is possible. Avatars have long lifespans. So the world/technology be even more changed with the next Avatar.

Judging from the comments on here it is a good thing I stopped watching the show. I got sick of how Mitch and Cam seem to only exist on the show for easy gay jokes, the fact that rarely ever kiss is proof of that. Gloria being constantly objectified and causing every other woman on the planet to feel intimidated…

These two episodes impressed me in so many ways. How the plot was completed almost perfectly (some background on the Red Lotus would have been nice), the excellently choreographed fight scenes, no deus ex machinas, and a very, very depressing ending for Korra.
