Yeah, it's what Yvette Nicole Brown calls Gillian Jacobs. She uses it a lot on Twitter (see, e.g., http://twitpic.com/1k5mni )  and I think it came up in a commentary track. No idea what the significance is.

I'd frame it the other way. In the beginning she's more like Jadzia, who, we're told in this episode, was very serious and academic. Later on, she clearly takes on more elements of Dax's/Curzon's personality, with all the Klingon stuff.
