Reminds me of the time I briefly lived in Mankato, MN. There's a little library built on the site of the largest mass execution in U.S. history (hanging of 38 Dakota men in 1862 … was originally supposed to be 303 men, but Lincoln "comprimised" and made a shorter list).

Living in the Twin Cities in the wake of Castile's murder has been interesting. A few of my friends participated in a protest that shut down a major highway last weekend (I-94). There was another highway shutdown this morning as well on I-35.

At my peak, I was able to write 500 words of eloquent bullshit per 15 minutes.

Well, it's good that we've moved on and that everyone has learned from this horrible chapter …

Just say your mom is also named "Martha" … you'll be fine.

Shut up, Jake Lloyd.

Where were you when they gave out free Slurpees on that July day?

It's not as unbearable if you think about it as a mental gymnastics competition.

Is the band half-time only, or is there a competitive aspect too?

I like how Calipari – the highest paid Kentucky state employee – likely won’t have to explain to a board why he’s recruiting an 11-year-old.

Hahaha … it's hilarious to me because so much of my musical background is marching band/drum corps. When I was in HS, my band went to a BOA competition and I saw the scale of Texas' obsession firsthand. It may be insane, but any way you can get people to give a shit about music is a good way.

I just wonder at what point you stop becoming a fan, and start becoming an apologist.
