Young Mr. Lincoln is an awesome role, but Fonda had so many great ones. Off the top of my head, you have My Darling Clementine, The Grapes of Wrath, Once Upon a Time in the West, On Golden Pond, The Ox-Bow Incident, 12 Angry Men and Fail-Safe. He might actually be underappreciated. Is that even possible?

Welles in The Third Man is pretty good too.

That's interesting Devon. I want to rewatch Stagecoach with Kane in mind. I always saw it the other way around. When I watched My Darling Clementine (1946), I thought I saw a heavy influence from Kane. The odd framings and the use of shadows in Clementine is just beautiful. Outside of Leone, Clementine might be my

Review coming for Oshima?
I'm unfamiliar with this guy.

I also like Branagh's Hamlet. Some of it is a bit goofy, but almost all of the actors do well and he makes no cuts to the text. The writing is the thing. There's nothing more irritating than some douche making cuts in Shakespeare's great texts.

It probably helps that we never really saw Lauren Graham in her twenties. Looks aside, she's a fucking great actress. I've been through Gilmore Girls a few times and I'm still not sure if she's better with the comedy or the drama.

And you know what I mean.

He sucked at blowing things up. There's a reason why Michael Bay is rich.

But I guess the pushing of religious observation has more to do with the parents than the teachers. But all kids absorb some beliefs and customs from their parents.

I don't know FidelAstro. I grew up in a religious community. Everyone I knew went to parochial school. Most of us were outwardly observant, but none of my friends took religion too seriously. My experience was that people started to think these things through in college or later.

I think it's cool if we have pastors on these boards. I'm personally convinced that God doesn't exist but I genuinely love the people who insist that He does. You guys tend to be serious thinkers with interesting thought processes.

My CD Collection
Every time I visit my parents and see the nearly 1000 CDs piled around my room- man that's a depressing feeling. But I'm also a masochist so I'll sometimes browse through them. There was a time when I thought The Red Hot Chili Peppers were the best band in the world- it's a harrowing experience.

Red Beard
This time in Blue 3D

Yeah, Rabin may have buried the lead on this one.

Interesting, the things you don't want in a review are exactly the things I enjoy. A synopsis is irrelevant to me; I like to read a well articulated take-away on the movie. But that's mostly for filmmakers I might be unfamiliar with, I like to get a sense if it's something I might be interested in.
But with a guy like

I'm afraid. I'm afraid. My voice is going. I can feel it. I can feel it. My voice is going. There is no question about it. I can feel it. I can feel it. I can feel it. I'm a… fraid.

I love me some Yojimbo. Maybe Sanjuro is the "better" story, but Yojimbo is so much more fun to watch. It's one of those hangout movies for me, I just want to get lost in the town, maybe hang with Takashi Shimura.

And then on the 3oth they're showing Dersu Uzala, Kagemusha and Ran. I've never seen Dersu Uzala- I'm pumped for that one.

What a week to cross over into insolvency.

Kicking and Screaming is the fillet of the Baumbach oeuvre.
