Yeah, surprised it was not brought up in the review. Was definitely in response to release of new GTA, that shattered every video games sales record.

"28 reasonable discussions? What the fuck are 5,000 people doing, posting f*ggot-ass comments about some pussy, lab-jockey who can't even control some bitch ass Mexican cartel? Mother-fucker is so weak that he let cancer all up in his lungs without even smoking any cigs or reefer. Back in '96, I used to put in a…
Exactly. This is even worse than that piece of shit of a show.
This show is Two and a Half Men without stripper jokes. It's awful.
I can't think of anything less interesting than "extended commentaries on his process and the creative impulse."
I'd give this more of a C-. They actually had some good ideas, but they fucked them up because it's Dexter.
This season has been fucking horrible. The athlete/famous people cameos are awful and distracting. The storylines are watered down. The character quirks are kind of becoming ubiquitous where it seems the dialogue can belong to anyone and the characters are all interchangeable.
Better than Gotye.
That's as much Bill Maher to me. Bill Maher's audience is just the worst.
So, you like their early stuff better? How AV Club commenter of you.
That episode was an 'A.' It was more straight-forward than a standard Sunny ep, but they basically outdid a South Park episode in its' prime. They shit all over the Emmys and all over Network winning shows, while still being self-referential/deprecating and taking shots at being moved to a new, obscure network.
Interesting how Scientology does not like gay people considering L Ron Hubbard was gay and, what seems like, a disproportionate amount of their members are as well (Cruise, Travolta, Will Smith)
I think the concept of the anti-hero whose need to satisfy his own individual desires to the detriment of everyone around him is prevalent in both shows. I think your breakdown is accurate as the over-arching themes, but on a broader level, I think they are similar.
I hear ya. BB is far beyond Dexter in quality. I really enjoy it, but I don't think it's close to The Sopranos or even Mad Men. I stick by that there's not much development for minor characters - Marie is nosy, Hank is insecure, which he masks with his nothing ever bothers me attitude, Walt Jr. doesn't want to be…
Yeah - they're definitely shows that are comparable in theme and narrative (not quality). Don't spoil shit for me since I'm just one episode into Season 3 of Breaking Bad - but the main difference (besides good writing) is that Walter actually faces consequences for every little action and people don't just turn a…
Good news, everyone! Dexter just got renewed! I have the leaked details for Season 9 …
Yeah - I'm not sure the mass-murder of dozens of elementary school kids at school (and teachers) is "minor" compared to child abuse (also awful) and scamming welfare (not even close).
Who gives a shit? If you have a show you can make the way you want without much network interference, without executives extreme detail on ratings, and it can run for 9 seasons and then some - you've got a pretty good thing going.
How about the track star? They show her being arrested after robbing a liquor store. That's not a federal crime. I think they're just banking that the average viewer doesn't know or care about the distinction between state and federal crimes. Not like it is integral to the show. Just saying.
"Little tip - Your dick! I'm joking, it's actually big!"
