Well I don't see any need to be mean to the person but your comment is at least an interesting drop of contrariness in this sea of puppy love that is this comments section. Comparatively it's like your comment is a little weird and has scary tattoos and a funky colorful haircut and maybe some piercings. Wait, what

Well I just lost a reply to this commenting system. It's such a piece of shit, and I don't understand why sites stick with it. Even when it's working properly it's not particularly friendly or navigable or useful. Disqus sucks.

Something about Chandler's cadence, slang, and use of metaphor curled my hair, made my nerves jump, and my skin itch, to paraphrase him. It gripped me the right way. But I wouldn't get into an argument with someone praising Hammett.

Same here. Spade was considerably darker, I felt. And TTMan book contained even more cocktails than the movie, if memory serves. It's been a while. But I really enjoyed that time, those movies and those books. The cheaper the crook the gaudier the patter. What's not to love. Lots of Chandler figured in as well.

Come for the Brando and Dean, stay for the Malden. But that's an amazing list. Eva Marie Saint could be added. Plus the black list debacle. I'm beginning to see why it's on the long side. Thanks for the rec.

I want to read the John Wayne bio.

Yes, well put. Despite all of my efforts I don't have much access to twenty-two year olds. If this one's representative, I've been woefully overestimating them. Twenty-two is new the 15?

The plot, if I understand it correctly (cloud?), reminds me of Elaine's nip slip xmas card. But you know, turned up to eleven! That Kramer, I mean Segel.

Slowed down on work to have kids, maybe? Just a guess.

ah fuck it, i don't know what's going on w this commenting system.

Gypsy, one of the robots on MST3K, would often refer to Richard Basehart, who represented something of a sex symbol for her. It was a running gag on the show. I thought you were doing that bit, defending Basehart, that sort of thing. Victims of an overabundance of referentiality, I'm afraid.

Gypsy, is that you?

Yes to ATHF. It's got amazing sticking power in that brain space that queues tunes into my awareness, randomly. The opening credits to their movie are also memorable.

Good one, Knight Rider. There's a ridiculous voice over narration setting up the premise, I believe? "A shadowy organization operating behind the scenes…"

And one for Taxi. So downbeat, almost melancholic.

I thought it was "I stole the tv, did some more time", as in, went back to jail.

Twin Peaks.
Rockford Files.
MST3K
The Office, bbc version, but only if rounded out with the closing credits, which included the lyrics of Handbags and Gladrags.

That guy on the plane Monday, the one across the aisle, with the ninja turtles tattooed on his forearm, must be brimming with anticipation.
