I have to confess to finding Derek funny, but for all the wrong reasons. It was one of the most patronising, blatantly manipulative series I've ever seen, and I even gasped in amazement at how awful it was at times.

I couldn't believe how terrible the mural was. I thought that when Phyllis and co were giving each other meaningful looks it was so they could get out of the room and rip the piss out of it. If I'd have been Jim I'd have taken one look, said "Right, I'm off to Austin" and then never spoken to Pam again.
I absolutely adored it as well, there were so many quite beautiful moments that had me all but in tears as I was laughing so much. I really hope The AV Club review the second season, as it deserves much more coverage than it's getting so far.
I was thinking stylistically though, rather than the age they were set in. And I could be wrong. And do really love Jane Austen too. I just didn't feel Clarke's style was particularly similar to hers. A little maybe, but not as much as Dickens and Eliot.
Hmmm, I'd have said it was more Dickensian with a dash of George Elliot than Jane Austen-esque.
National Lampoon's Weekend At Chevy's.
Well, we can but dream.
You're definitely doing tv wrong, there.
I wouldn't go that far, but it's definitely in my top 7.
True, but Strauss is also responsible for a lot of dead horses.
I'm just reading the wiki synopsis and it is horribly bleak.
Technically Cockneys Vs Zombies has already been released over here in the UK, making the horrendously dire Run For Your Wife his last film. But I'm happy to keep quite about this if you are.
No. It wouldn't.
This is an amazingly elaborate prank Sean, congratulations, getting E Online onboard with it was especially impressive. But enough now with the James Franco madness. Enough.
That was my initial response, too. And who would pay to see him? Other than lone gunmen?
This would have worked much better with only 3 likes.
AV Clubbers have relationships? When did this happen?
Good Lord that's an appalling dull list. On behalf of everyone in England I'd like to apologise for it's tediousness.
I found that too, and considering how much I fancy Kimberly Nixon it's quite amazing how they made her character so irritating that I no longer want to sex her up. She is pretty great in the under-rated and hardly watched Hebburn, which almost makes up for it. But only almost.
The first series of Fresh Meat took a while to grow on me, but by about half way through I'd become very fond of it, even taking a liking to Jack Whitehall who normally makes me want to destroy not only my own television, but any within a five mile vicinity.
And six episodes (including the Christmas Special) isn't really an incomplete series in Blighty. I know we're due to get a further 8 next year (as well as the Anniversary Specials) but a fair few British shows have six episode seasons as standard.
