@stagger_gee:disqus For about a decade Shed Seven were my most hated band, they probably didn't deserve to be as there were far worse bands out there, but they headlined the Brighton Essential Festival in 97 and almost ruined what until then had been one of the best days.

Bruiser Brody - See, to me Britpop was a mixture of all of those things you mentioned - certainly Pulp were very similar to The Divine Comedy at times, at least when it came to sex (though TDC were admittedly a more romance fueled band than Pulp ever were). And TDC created some gloriously beautiful pop moments, too,

Yeah, I'm a big fan of Rue Britannia, mainly as it name checks so many bands that I loved at the time. The Singles Club (and the obsession with The Long Blondes) was less appealing, but apparently a third mini-series is on it's way which I hope will be more fun.

I know four people who don't post on the AV Club who like the show. However we're based in Blighty, and so make no difference to the ratings. Sorry.

It gets worse, unfortunately, and I'd be really surprised if the last three episodes get higher than a D rating. It becomes too cringeworthy to bare at times as well, which is a shame as Davis is great in it.

It's a beautiful album, and even better when heard live. I was at one of the shows in London and Courtney's voice is even more astonishing in real life.
