Oh yeah, "World Destruction" was killer. At the time, hearing Lydon's "your LIFE ain't NOTHIN" rant on top of Bambaataa's funk beats was completely unexpected and totally natural.
I could totally hear his voice as he answered your questions, and he seemed to really like your "create instead of wallow" on a desert island insight.
@assless chaps,
If you listen to the original podcasts — or especially the radio shows when XFM had them up on its website — you get a truer picture of the Gervais / Merchant / Pilkington dynamic than what we are seeing on the HBO show.
Sun City the Song
Say whatever you about the video, but "Sun City" the song absolutely fucking ruled.
While it's true that Mr. Wyndham-Pryce ended up being a hardass, it's also true that I never stopped yelling "Shut up, Wesley!" at him.
Wheaton is a mensch for how he's handled all of the Wesley hate over the years.
And it wouldn't have mattered if Captain Archer had gone the ZZ Top route . . .
The best thing about Troi was her mother, who started out annoying, but ended up being part of some pretty great comedy episodes.
I've always associated the uptick in quality from the 2nd season on with Riker's beard.
One of the things I REALLY got from rewatching TNG a couple of years ago and watching DS9 now is how freaking hilarious Michael Dorn's line readings ended up being.
Saw This in the Theater
When this came out, Bakshi was pretty much considered the shit; Lord of the Rings was a huge huge deal, and HOLY SHIT was I disappointed.
@scotteb,
You could like them. You will know. You could like them in the snow.
Awesome. Many more do this, and we'll need to attach spreadsheets to our comments.
Reboot
Man, I hope they use all of the cliffhangers as an excuse to reboot the show when it comes back, because I really thought this season (or half-season or WHATEVER, SyFy) was lackluster, with characters — starting with Amanda mistakenly outing her daughter as a terrorist — doing things to serve the plot, as…
A Kinsley Gaffe
It seems like she committed a Kinsley gaffe.
@Salieri,
Yesteryear is one of my favorite episodes in any of the Treks.
