If you consider this any indication of its quality, Time had Ubik as one of the top English written books of the 20th century. It is definitely worth the read, but not my favorite PKD book.

Speaking of penis issues, did HipsterDB finally bleed out?

I am more interested about how this movie works with his concerns about "da fancy-pants."

What a bizarre list, Flaubert. Doug E. Fresh? Edgar Winters? It seems that Scientology was the reason behind My Name is Earl.

Where I grew up in Mississippi, there was a paper mill and a pogey fish processing plant about a half mile apart. The air literally smelled like a fart.

Jupiter Jones, motherfucker!

Yikes!
The ridiculous amount of time I would spend on a question like that, if it was my job, is unnerving. At times, it is truly hard separating the music I have heard released in my lifetime, the true classics that were before me and the music that is great but definitely would not exist without their influences.

Detroit has a skyline, too.

"In 1984, I was hospitalized for approaching perfection."

Yeah, I should clarify. Helmet does kick ass and should in no way be mixed in with the nu meatl shit. I was mostly saying I was surpised that they would go unmentioned in Hyden's flashback.

Helmet (no mention here, Hyden?) and Primus was such a great, wild show from my early 20's. It was the stuff of legends that people were jumping off the balcony into the pit at Tipitina's during one of Helmet's shows and with Primus, it was just wacky and awesome.

You and me both, Miller. I was 24 when Napster started and I got my first broadband connection about six months later. Between Napster and allmusic.com, I would stay up all night just downloading music that was listed as similar to bands I like. I would also add that some side articles on the onion called the

I may not have followed Primus much past Tales From The Punchbowl, but I loved their weirdness in my teens. Plus, those fuckers put on a good show.

I don't know. I was 23 in 1998 and looking at the wikipedia list for that year I have to say that 1998 was a terrible year for music. At least not good from my perspective. Of the albums you listed, I really liked the JSBX Acme, but I really haven't listened to that in years. Yet, I still have Orange, Now I got

And I will add, if you like jazz or just fun music, check out some of the modern guys out of New Orleans like Trombone Shorty or Kermit Ruffins. People are calling Treme boring, but there is nothing boring about the music as it shines a spotlight on some great acts. If you have not heard Trombone Shorty or Kermit

Hey Miller, it is in Gulf Shores, Al and camping is at its premium down here. No shit, if you like to camp, the deep South is where it's at. Here is a link to the show: http://tinyurl.com/47njm7m If the link doesn't work, it is called The Hangout Festival.

Ugh, I had tickets to see Ween like 8 years ago and on the way out of town, my girlfriend's car broke down. There are few things quite as shitty as seeing tickets for a band you love go to waste. I still have not seen them, but luckily enough, they are playing at a bizarrely, eclectic festival on the beach near me

I saw them open for Nirvana and that was a weird mixture. The bouncy bubblegum of Shonen Knife followed by the dour, grind of Nirvana. It was nice, at least, that the crowd, who were entirely there for Nirvana, was very receptive of the happy little Japanese girls.

If we are including sports
I was at the game when the Superdome opened up post-Katrina, and that was truly an amazing experience. I am not a Saints fan but tagged along with some friends who are die hard fans. The city was still pretty much in ruins (still mostly is), but for those few hours, no one gave a shit

Well, thank you, J Serious. And let me note that I am a fan of your user name as I have used the similar "The American War Machine" as a name for a few things.
