I think the problem is that they contort the characters and plot pretty tortuously to string along the story, as opposed to shows like Community or Homeland, which lets things occur (Jeff and Britta hooking up, Carrie confronting Brody) as they would organically, without trying to follow any sort of stilted…

Childrens won in a pretty random category.  Don't know the mechanics of how all that works, but I bet that has a lot to do with it.  For one things, Childrens is fighting against other things that have no ratings to speak of, whereas Sunny would have to win against much more high-profile shows.

I found myself watching this episode and thinking, 'Holy shit, this show might actually have become good.'

I had totally forgotten that there was some sort of tension between them last year, having written that vague memory off as just my assumption that they'd throw the two most attractive members of the cast into bed together at some point.
