Is chamber checking something you do mid-fight? Especially after you've already fired some rounds from that mag? I imagine if there were anything you'd do in a lull in a gunfight, it would be to change mags. Is it SOP to chamber check to make sure you didn't go empty without the slide locking back?

That bugged the shit out of me too. Racking the slide will tell you that you HAD a round in the chamber.
