I'd argue that if you're watching Mad Men only being interested in a singular aspect, even something as strong as character work (which I agree is much stronger than the thematic work), than you are watching it wrong. Maybe wrong isn't the best way to put it, but it's certainly not being viewed at the extent it should…

This is a good point. I was watching some of Season 1 not too long ago, and his attempts at Drapery hubris don't differ a lot between then and now. But now it's more understandable, whereas then we had just met the guy so he was just a shitpile.

I was starting to come around to "liking" him until a few episodes into this season. It's mainly the fact that he tries to cheat on his wife, who is Alison Brie, and that's just dumb. Idiot.
