Worked in Germany too. Guess Hulu's geolocation is disabled for this kind of "digital only" content.
Pastewka certainly stole the general concept, but it still kinda worked as a show because of its self-referentiality and many meta-jokes about German TV. I personally don't like it that much, but it's still regarded as one of the better shows.
I think they did a pretty decent job of Germanizing the show, and C.M. Herbst is spot on as the hypocritical, insensitive prick of a boss who becomes quite pathetic and small once you get to know him. Removing his aspirations as an entertainer was a good choice IMO.
The greatest thing about Stromberg is that there's a hilarious parody called Obersalzbergā¦ guess who's the boss there.
