I used to love the WB store. When I was in HS and there weren't that many around yet, my friend and I drove into downtown Chicago just because we'd heard they had Animaniacs stuff. I got a great Wakko shirt and a Pinky & the Brain cap out of the trip.

I used to have a theory that Chicken Boo was actually a racist allegory, mainly because of how "Chicken Boo" sounds like "jiggaboo," and how no matter how much he dressed himself up or tried to advance himself in life, he would always still just be a .. chicken.

I always saw it as a tribute to a specific type of cartoon plot/trope - protecting the baby. Tom & Jerry had at least one or two of these, and there were a few Looney Toons shorts of this type also. The Roger Rabbit shorts referenced them too.

I caught a Japanese language version of it as an interstitial clip on Cartoon Network Japan once. Blew my mind.

Same here. I always felt like Freakazoid tried a bit too hard to hit viewers over the head with their wackiness, that there were too many gags that were just nonsequitur weirdness for the sake of being randomly weird. Animaniacs felt more naturally funny to me.
That being said, I loved the episode where Freakazoid

I read that somewhere way back in the day (maybe Usenet). I think the episode was basically a present for LaMarche. That makes a lot of sense because I had no idea what it was about when I first saw it in late high school/early college.

If loving my kids is lame, I guess I'm just a big lame!

The Purple Monkey Dishwasher episode was the worst.

Selma's choice also has "I can see the music!" and the sequence with the old sandwich, which gets me every time.

At least they planted the Tessalecta earlier in the series and included a huge red herring in the Gangers, instead of just "Hey, psychic satellites!"
