Well I should restate my point: the Ke$ha opening was when the show went from "completely unwatchable" to "unbelievably horrifying new low."

RIP Simpsons
The official day The Simpsons died was the episode where they animated their opening to a Ke$ha song. Stunts like this don't even phase me anymore.
That yeti was not happy…
With those Hollywood types dragging their cameras and whatnot through his church.
Damn, Americas Most Wanted and COPS were the cornerstone of Fox's trashy TV foundation.
I'm glad the press release reminded us she was adorable. I was starting to think that Zooey looks like a pile of dead wasps.
A Napoleon Dynamite cartoon?
You asked for it (seven years ago), you got it (seven years later)!
Characterization
South Park's characters are about as well-realized as Family Guy's. Outside of Butters, Cartman, and maybe Randy, the rest of the characters just act in whatever way the current pop culture situation dictates. South Park seemed to start with a genuine interest in creating a whole town with a cast of…
For all they have given us…
None of the Kids in the Hall should ever have to work again.
Physically Painful
Most modern pop is so overproduced and digitally sweetened (not even counting auto-tune) that it actually makes me feel barfy. Like I'm falling through a shapeless blob of sound.
I stopped reading The Walking Dead…
After (no spoilers here) Kirkman wrote an entire issue that was nothing but one the antagonists being tortured to death in graphic detail. It struck me as though it was intended to blow our ever-lovin' minds, but instead, it ended up being boring and childish and pointless. Not…
Did anyone else notice…
That Ben Savage started doing a Jackie Mason impression in the later seasons of this show?
Requiem for a Dream was a trailer during my screening of Dancer in the Dark. Weird.
(Mexican Wine is a way better song.)
They've had some really great guests in the year that they've been making podcasts, but I still think they're hilarious when left to their own devices. Jen Kirkman is supposed to be a guest on an upcoming episode, so maybe the GVP will get a chance to unseat a member of the Earwolf/Maximum Fun mafia at least once in…
Came here to say that exact same thing. If I wanted to see naked, middle-aged ginger men, I'd subscribe to whatever magazine catered to that fetish.
Another week…
Another Podmass without The Grandma's Virginity Podcast. And yet Comedy Death Ray is filed under "THE BEST" even though the reviewer gives it a fairly middling review. Where is justice!?
Fat Ian Roberts works for peanuts.
I agree. Most of the show is focused on nepotism-based career wunderkind Ben Stiller and his high-larious celebrity impersonations. Though the few bits that capture Mr. Show's sensibilities (Manson, Hillbilly corporation, PJ O Pootertoots) are still great.
If you read the article linked above, you can tell that Odenkirk and co. were trying to sell their movie in the guise of a shitty mainstream character-based comedy. Unfortunately, that's what it became.
Home Improvement was probably the most-watched show of the 1990s, and yet I don't think it influenced a damn thing. At least, I hope.
