Damn that was a concert. She totally showed up Of Montreal, who probably belong on this list in some capacity too.

I saw them for their Greater Wrong of the Right tour, and they were pretty spectacular. Ogre apparently broke an explicitly stated rule that no fake blood would be tolerated in their live show. There was lots.

Totally disagree about LCD Soundsystem, but Modest Mouse was pretty disappointing. At least they played "Float On," which I hear they sometimes don't.

I didn't like The Squid and the Whale when I first saw it, but it's grown on me. There's a common thread between Ben Stiller the Failed Musician here and Jeff Daniels the Failed Musician there.
