The show went downhill in the middle of season 2. You know, the one where Lord Grantham has an affair with one of the maids. That came out of nowhere and was really out of character, I thought. That's also when I realized I had been watching a soap opera.
No. I think people here are being much harsher because it's a pretty good show and so when it falters, it's a bit obvious and disappointing. And that fact that there are only a few episodes mean the duds stick out that much more.
But, I do enjoy it. It's better than most mystery/procedural type shows on tv.
You're not the only one. I mean his writing is pretty much what you'd except- over the top- but the quotes at Vulture are pretty hilarious. If there's more like them in the book, then I'm excited.
