Well, the book versions of Eliot and Margo/Janet are really, really involved in the Fillorian aspects of the story… So, I'm hopeful. Margo/Janet is a character who grows immensely in importance and appeal over the course of the novels. IMO, she's ultimately a more important character than Julia.
Yeah, I can't imagine TV Penny ever turning into Librarian Penny from the books. That's OK, though. I think it's easier to pull of a totally unsympathetic character (and not in a dangerous bad-boy way, either) on TV than on the page. If we had to see book Penny on screen as much as we've seen Arjun Gupta, it would be…
Jesus is one of my favorite characters from the comic. I really hope that the show does NOT play down him being a total ninja superhero… Though I guess the show's reimagined version of Morgan might make that a little redundant.
Show Penny is the only character so far who's clearly better than his book counterpart. Hard to envision his character arc ending in the same place as in the books, or even taking the same route.
Maybe I should watch Children of Earth. Agreed season 2 was better. The smart-aleck doctor was a more appealing character when he was dead… at least he had a reason to be so unpleasant.
What about Peter?
When that light bulb blew and Bellivia collapsed, did Peter do that? Did Olivia? Or was the light bulb random, and Bellivia collapsed because Bell is an old guy under a lot of stress?
Maybe Olivia doesn't remember the "by the way, it was me who murdered all those mercury dudes" convo? It happened right before she Bell-ed out, so there could be shock/memory loss at work.
Definitely, that's a plot point that needs to be continued and resolved… The whole question of whether Peter has been "weaponized",…
Chuck R: love the Three Musketeers reference.
Excellent comments, Ellsworth.
Nice to know it's not just me loathing all the characters on Torchwood. I want to like it, but it's tough. The chunky Welsh woman is OK but not a live wire. Captain Jack should change his last name to "Ass"… he's one of the least likeable action heroes in all of genre television.
What a disarming experience for Broyles. Must have felt like he was without a leg to stand on.
How brutal is the lack of resolution on Journeyman? Should I watch it?
Seems like the comments section…
…has reached the point where more people are here to praise or criticize than rant or make fun. That has to be a sign that the show is improving. I wish the producers would/could just bring the whole thing to a big, satisfying conclusion at the end of the season, instead of leaving us…
Lay off of Sean
I'm a little bemused by Joshua's constantly expressed preference for the Martinez/Sophia storylines and dislike of Sean/Leila.
"There is raw blandness to everything that put just me at a distance. Acting, dialouge , character, direction … it just isn't "there." "
If the FLOTUS was an alien, it would raise some interesting ethical questions for Martinez about his commitment to his half-alien son… maybe a good point of entry to get his thinking off the Joe McCarthy track.
Even though it's probably too obvious, I'm rooting for Christina to be the alien.
Let's hope that Sean's laptop doesn't display the passwords that he enters on the screen in big, unencrypted letters, like, apparently, the computers in top-secret US military installations.
That was to show you that the French contact is French. We all know that the French spend every spare moment consuming wine, cheese, and bouillabaisse. Oddly, he wasn't wearing a beret. The costuming department dropped the ball, there.
I loved it the first time, wish it had been just the once.
