Haha, yeah, I thought of that one after I made my post, it's a shame I've never seen either movie, just heard from people who did. Didn't Rabin do a MYOF on it?

Holmes is right with Conan's sensibility - he's endlessly manic, desperate, and relies heavily on callbacks, even callbacks to things that weren't funny. All these are good traits for talk-show hosts. Shame the format is dying.

No wonder why Tomlin reacted so fiercely when David O. Russell said he owned her.

Given that the movie was made and distributed by a financially struggling company, it sounds like they wanted to intentionally confuse people. Which is always a terrible, terrible strategy.

Bill Maher on lazy summer afternoons, but I could not brave this one, possibly by exposing myself to an Ebert review of it when it came out - it's a shame, I think I missed out on discovering some batshit movies that way.

I swear there was an airline version of this movie on a flight I was on, but I was 10 years old and either was informed by my parents that I couldn't watch, or watched briefly and gave up. Regardless, it would take the world's saddest 10 year old to be really into Glengarry Glen Ross.

While it's upsetting, Spike Lee is probably the right guy to do it, at least visually, and if it means more people becoming aware of that movie, I can't totally hate the idea.

Scrawler, Buzz: I'm arguing that what makes it a compelling read is what makes it interesting for would-be I-bankers. It's stuffed with anecdotes about getting one over on people, treating money like it's going out of style, about being really smart, confident, and making one's own way. I mean, sure, drug/alcohol…
