Trying to add something new, I guess.  I think it's a little more difficult than 'name a state'.  I liked the wrinkle in one of the latest ones, where it was name a film that starts with a number.

Seemed to me this episode was all about how sometimes being jolted out of what you want or expect can be better off for you, even if it's unpleasant.  The gorilla joke has no punchline - it's not intrinsically a good joke.  It's only good if you've heard so many jokes that hearing a nonsensical joke is better than

Shock:  You must not follow sports.  GMs aren't promoters, they're generally anti-promoters.  The squeaky wheel gets the grease.  It's a very militaristic point of view.  A homosexual player will just bring a ton of media attention that no GM wants - both not for themselves, but for the rest of the players on the team.

Well, but Branch Rickey signed a dynamite player - that was one of the keys, that Robinson had to also be an excellent baseball player in addition to being able to handle all the racism that would come his way.

I mean, other than his teammates and other general managers and the media and everyone?  No, not really. You'll notice there aren't any out athletes in the 4 major team sports.  I don't think it's because that player would be heavily discriminated against by players or teammates (though that's part of it), but because

That's all true, but the key here is that while Woody Allen comes out with a movie every year, that's still only 90 to 120 minutes worth of new Woody Allen.  Aaron Sorkin writes for television (mostly), and now he's writing an hour-long HBO drama.  So that's 10 hours of new Sorkin, in addition to the many, many hours

Right, but no self-respecting comedian is going to be anything further right of a 'South Park conservative' - Norton's act (and life) are both filthy.  So yeah, in that respect, they're not diametrically opposed, but they're about as far away from one another politically as you can get in the comedy business.

How long until this devolves into political carping instead of pointing out how awesome Norton is?  I like both Jim Norton and David Cross despite the fact that their politics are opposed to one another, and that their political humor is sometimes clumsy and awful.

It just felt unearned - we were thrown into the middle of something.  Louie does this a lot, but at first I read Gaby Hoffmann's character as 'neurotic stock Louie character' - it wasn't until the scene was nearly over and Louie eats his ice cream happily that I realized he might've somehow instigated the breakup.

Right.  I thought the two payoffs from the long conversations he had with 'April' were good, but the conversations themselves (especially the first one) had a lot of tension that we couldn't really process.

Nope.  I love Norm, and I love sports, and that show was very good.  Much better than Sportsdome, which I found more clever than funny.
