To paraphrase Vonnegut:
"The Big Lebowski" is as seamless as an egg.

"When Aronofsky saw The Matrix in 1999, he considered it a film that redefined the science fiction genre."-from Wikipedia

Um… we are all doomed.
Like Clint said in the unforgiven, " We all got it coming"

My Canadian girlfriend went to the Isles of Langerhan

I never got that far (into Naked Lunch).
I gave up on it after becoming hopelessly depressed earlier in the narrative.
I attributed that to my own lack of sophistication.

You left out shooting your wife, and writing a seminal novel… but still probably not.

No dumb a$$ he's talking about the B movie bio-pic your avatar starred in circa late 60's.

Well SP you spilled your guts.
Talk about pearls before swine.

"Days Of Heaven" is not without merit either.
I see a lot of John Ford in it.

@Purdy Lee (Spackle)
What book did you read?
Other than Character names and taking place on Guadalcanal there is almost no connection between the novel and Malick's version of the film.

My beef with "Shaving Ryan's Privates" is that it's jingoistic.
The Post D-day portion of the film (with the exception of executing prisoners - an historically accurate take) could have been made during WWII.

Jim
I was a Viet Nam era volunteer.
I have ambigous thoughts/feelings about this film.
A person's position on the film doesn't move me to any great degree.

Shore patrol
Hate your avatar (kidding), totally agree with you on the baby bird shot.

The original poster:
How old are you?
Have you been in combat?
Do you actually think deserting was invented or legitimized soley in Viet Nam?

I've only seen the original on comercial (riddled) TV.
It did seem like a knockoff but IMBd rates it a 7.1.
Keir Dullea starred ("2001" and "David & Lisa") with Jack Warden.
Just a guess: maybe they were hoping for another "From Here to Eternity".

Voice-overs often draw flack.
They fly in the face of Heminway's "show don't tell" type of exposition.
Initially I thought I'd buy this in Blu-ray.
Now I think I'll rent it and rewatch it.

A flatulent Die Hard?

… so he's confused about a variety of things?

Sexiest or stupidest.
Of course he's put some pretty stupid things in print before, this may take the cake.

Get off my lawn!
