Portman showing skin had been a genuine curiosity until she actually did to a collective non-aroused yawn.

That's the exact point I was trying to make… to come full circle on the issue.. (sigh).. nevermind Lobsters.. I'm tired of wrasslin' with ya.

Not exactly.
I was noting the irony of how this country now allow such a conservative darling empty headed Palin to be in public eye when she should be hidden away as something shameful. I won't even question the collective intellect of Tea Bag nation though.

And by any such thing…. I didn't mean to leave out some incredibly bad medical terrible race based medical testing ie.. syphallis testings etc…

I did not imply that the United States did any such thing.

Sopranos Spider Moment
There's a great moment when Michael Imperioli's Chris character get's disrespected by the guy behind the counter at a deli/bakery.

Era of eugenics
Along with the controversial nature of the movie, it's interesting that the movie was made when the whole idea of the Eugenics movement was approaching it's zenith. It wasn't just a the terrible realization of Nazi Germany alone. By that point, the whole movement was somewhat universally

Movie Universes - A Paine
Alexander Paine has been known to riff callbacks to his prior films. In Election, Matthew Broderick's disgraced teacher buddy ends up working in a hardware store pricemarking aerosol cans ala Citizen Ruth.

Lost Qautrain
People will fear his voice of persuasion of invasion in the time of Mars

and for the record… I really enjoyed lots of moments of Pineapple Express. I just wish that more comedies were afforded more effort, better writing, higher production values..etc… It seems like it's currently trending in the wrong direction.

Pardon my garbled grammar (sigh) I kinda rushed that last incoherent poorly worded argument. I'm not even sure I even made a relevant point.

I no objection to stupid low-brow comedy movies… but I do object to lazy movies.
This doesn't seem to be too inspired beyond the title. As much as they might offer up a few laughs, I'm not liking this trend of single concept movies like Hot Tub T Machine or like Pineapple express.

"Forest porn"!

No calculators for me either…
When I was in second grade, I do remember a large orange calculating machine. As students would type in arithmetic number problems *AND* the answers… and the machine would make a small pixely happy or frowny face depending on the correctness of the answer.

I remember reading or hearing a discussion on how the actors of old hollywood seem to convey much more maturity and age than their contemporary counterparts today. Too often today's young actors seem like they are young kids playing dress up.. DiCaprio in Aviator… Black Dahlia's Harnett and ScarJo… Pearl Harbor

Don't get me wrong… I like Roger Ebert and his reviews. Through the years, Ebert is the benchmark for great insightful movie reviews. I loved the early "At the Movies" days. An interesting intelligent dude, I even have him on my Twitter feed.

I can only compare mid teens knowing songs I grew up with to how it was with me having knowledge and knowing songs from the 50s and 60s. I knew The Beatles from osmosis from their cultural impact aftermath, not from seeing them develop in live real time.

Flashman! A brother in age!

Actually… For me I think that it's the realization that characters in movies who represent established maturity, responsibility and power…are younger than me.

I'm kinda sorta stunned that most everyone is in the mid-20 range. (From the looks of it 1984ish is the median age here) I guess that I assumed it was more wide ranging mix of ages.
