I wouldn't say movie versions of those characters are autism spectrum, but rather have anxiety disorders. But one thing that's neat about both movie and series is that they connect the symptoms of the kid to the parents (both Adam and Kristina have vaguely aspie moments). That's one thing the series does well

Additional acclaim for Genevieve noticing that Carly Rae Jepsen's album is a blast that goes well beyond "Call Me Maybe." It's Robyn-level dance pop (and, at only two bum tracks—the duets with Bieber and Owl City—it's more consistent than Body Talk, IMO) that can't seem to get a break on these year-end polls.

Yeah, I hadn't heard Passion Pit before, and Gossamer kind of blew me away, mainly because people kept describing them as light on substance (like Hyden does above). It's not quite as impressive as, say, Hissing Fauna Are You the Destroyer? or 808s and Heartbreak when it comes to capturing an emotional breakdown in a

People have been cramming easy listening and death metal together at least since the first Naked City album (and, yeah, Mr. Bungle, like The_Judge said). And I'm not sure if they quite go into death metal territory, but there's also that Pat Boone metal album and that fucking awful Richard Cheese guy.

1. That's a commonly-held, but somewhat erroneous, belief about early punk. The fact that Johnny Rotten loved a lot of what most would consider prog (he became more open about this after the Pistols broke up) makes for a good symbolic refutation, but it's also incredibly easy to find punk-prog middle ground running

I wouldn't say it spans "his entire career." The oldest song dates back to Plans, which is right around the time his songwriting started to slip. Former Lives probably would have been much better off with some leftovers from the We Have the Facts/Photo Album/Transatlanticism/Give Up years. A few good tunes on here,

They got mentioned in the article. I was glad to see them, too!

It's not better across the board (the original "Southern Girls" is pretty much fine as is), but man does the Albini version bring out the power side of power-pop on "Big Eyes" and "Downed."

"A Girl (La La La)" is seriously the best song the Faces never wrote - amazing.  I went on a power pop downloading binge a couple of years ago, and their first and fourth albums, and Blue Ash's first one were my favorite finds.

Then you haven't read Jillette's novel, Sock. That's some seriously insufferable atheist proselytizing right there. I think the guy's just insufferable whenever he has an agenda other than being a magician/comedian. You wouldn't think, but Teller's easily the more interesting of the two: http://www.esquire.com/feat…
