Look, I'm a fan. I've shared Community fan-stuff and I'm just as excited for #sixseasonsandamovie as anyone else. But I can see how it's off-putting and how it could be alienating. That said, it's a really really good show but not the greatest comedy ever presented on the airwaves.
It would be nice to see AV Club dedicate like 1/3 of the amount of time it spends on Community discussing just about anything else that exists in culture right now.
PREACH
Agreed - the idea that if you don't like it, you are clearly living in the darkest timeline is a bit much. The show has it's share of issues, like most 30 minute network comedies. It's a really good, very funny show but the fans (present company excluded, fellow commenters) need to chill out.
A strong point raised all around is that rabid fandom can wear down even those who truly love the show. As great as I think Community is (and it's way up there for me), I'm not sure if I think it's the greatest show to every exist nor do I really think we need 5,000 tumblrs dedicated to it or to be bombarded with…
Best username!
I'm convinced Hyden did this just to snag a cameo.
Or if they got into a polygamous marriage with Channing Tatum, they'd be the Channing Tatum Channings…
I still think it was in poor taste for Nick Nolte to leave the horse's head in Dustin Hoffman's bed…
#sixseasonsandacountryalbum!
If anyone ever brings up Degrassi my presence, I now have a great line. Thanks, Dave!
I assumed it was a reference to a horror movie I haven't seen.
He looked like a tree…outta ten.
Also, they were promoting HE's Comedy Awards nomination before the episode last night, so they seem to be pleased that it's getting some award attention, since Modern Family keeps hogging all the Emmys. That certainly can't hurt.
Completely worth viewing for Max's curse voice alone.
Forget it, Jake - it's SMASH.
That's what she slips on!
It seems unlikely that they could really "cast" Karen as Marilyn for an extended period of time after what we've seen of Ivy. Unless McPhee has been holding it all in (or they completely adapt the show), it could only be a temporary solution to ramp up drama. Hilty may not be everyone's cup of tea but she has been…
It really, really, really did bring out my inner AI judge - especially because the people at Smash probably have a sizable song catalog to choose from. Surely there must be something out there that doesn't highlight EVERY SINGLE COMPLAINT about McPhee's singing that has been lobbed against her since the show…
