Yeah Alien is the exception, though. His other movies aren't engaging at all. I always thought Blade Runner was pretty dull, Gladiator's a fucking total snooze-fest, American Gangster was way too ridiculous to be engaging, etc. Of course you should bear in mind that I AM just a toaster, over here.

Ridley Scott and Zac Snyder is actually a pretty good comparison. Both are good with visuals and technical achievements, less so with emotional involvment and engaging storytelling. I don't know that Snyder has the maturity to pull off this movie, but it's bound to look good.
